The Coaching Team

Ian Irving – Head Coach

After finishing a B.Sc(hons) degree in Sports Science at Liverpool John Moores University in which I predominantly studied Anatomy & Physiology and Coaching, I have gone on to work in several organisations gaining more qualifications along the way. After leaving university I travelled for a while and worked in Denmark & Germany for a year. After coming back to the UK I ran several Circuits based classes for different gyms and at other places.

Along with my degree, I have achieved Personal Training and Circuit Training Qualifications with SAQ, Box-a-cise and with Body Pump. I am a qualified coach at Rugby Union, Football (FA and Brazilian Soccer Schools), Boxing, Weight Lifting, Volleyball, Swimming and Diving.

I have completed courses regarding Nutrition, Sports Speed Training, Specific Needs Groups, Injury Rehabilitation, Strength and Conditioning etc, and continue to do these courses to ensure my Continuous Professional Development with North Yorkshire Sport and other organisations suh as the ABA and studying diligently at home to stay on top of new ideas.

As well as qualifications in specific sports and conditioning I have also completed courses in working with people with learning disabilities, drug dependancy, mental health issues, personality disorders having worked at a hostel for ex-offenders as the healthy living co-ordinator.

I worked in several gyms before getting a job as a personal trainer and gym instructor at The Academy, Harrogate for three years, before leaving to take over as the healthy lifestyle co-ordinator mentioned above. After setting up a gym and advising and implementing systems to help improve the diet and lifestyle of ex-offenders for 3 years, I was up for a new challenge and took over the running of the Sports Centre at Ashville College, Harrogate, where I worked for 5 years.

I have worked with many different organisations, from providing healthy lifestyle courses and exercise for ex-offenders to working as head coach of Knaresborough RUFC, where I took the side to undefeated league glory in 2006/07.

I also have worked with Brazilian Soccer Schools Harrogate since 2005 advising on providing conditioning and speed training for the boys and girls who train there.

I have been lucky enough over the years to have worked with several professional Rugby players at both Union and League advising on Speed, Strength and Conditioning.

Ian has a degree in Sports Science as well as Personal Training, Circuit Training & Strength & Conditioning Diplomas through SAQ. He also has numerous other training qualifications (Box-a-cise, Crew Class, Spinning, Body Pump etc) and NGB coach qualifications in Boxing, Football, Rugby, ICFDS, Swimming, Diving, Handball, Futsal, Gymnastics, Volleyball, Weightlifting etc. Ian regularly attends CPD courses through North Yorkshire Sport and other organisations.

I started this company in 2008 running Personal Training, Functional Fitness Classes and some After School Sports Clubs. I continue to work in all these areas and have added birthday parties, PE lessons and holiday sports courses to the businesses repertoire. It gives me great pleasure watching clients, ranging in age from 4 to 80+, making improvements to their skills and conditioning levels. Adding in 2016 Evolution Forest Training to our brand…
